## Dataset Card

SWE-bench Verified is a subset of 500 samples from the SWE-bench test set, which have been human-validated for quality. SWE-bench is a dataset that tests systems’ ability to solve GitHub issues automatically. See this post for more details on the human-validation process. The dataset collects 500 test Issue-Pull Request pairs from popular Python repositories. Evaluation is performed by unit test verification using post-PR behavior as the reference solution. The original SWE-bench dataset was released as part of SWE-bench: Can Language Models Resolve Real-World GitHub Issues? Want to run inference now? This dataset only contains the problemstatement (i.e. issue text) and the basecommit which…

## SAVRN's Notes on SWE-bench_Verified

SWE-bench Verified is the human-validated 500-sample subset of SWE-bench, the Princeton NLP benchmark where models resolve real GitHub issues and unit tests verify the fix. It is 2.1 MB — 500 rows, three files, 288.3k monthly downloads, last updated 2025-02-18 — and deliberately minimal: each record carries the problem statement and base commit, nothing more. Evaluation infrastructure lives outside the dataset.

This is an eval, full stop, and one the industry cites constantly. Training on it — or on its 500 issue texts — does not build capability, it just games the most-quoted coding-agent number. The hub record states no license, another reason to keep it out of training pipelines. Use it to score agents, and pair it with the full SWE-bench set if you need volume; at 2.1 MB, running it is free, leaking it is expensive.
