An evaluation row appears only where at least two of these models report the same benchmark with the same stated configuration, metric, unit and setup. Different evaluators stay named in each cell. Values are shown as reported: no unit conversion, no ranking.

## SAVRN's Notes on Qwen3-Embedding-0.6B

596M parameters with a 32,768-token context: the smallest of Qwen's embedding series embeds and reranks across retrieval, code retrieval, classification, clustering and bitext mining, at 1.4 GB in 16-bit memory, 0.7 GB at 8-bit and 0.4 GB at 4-bit. The cheapest setup we list, one 192 GB MI300X at $1.85 an hour, is a card it will share with the generator it feeds. It draws 9.7M downloads a month.

Apache 2.0 makes it a clean component to ship. It derives from Qwen3-0.6B-Base and serves through sentence-transformers as a Qwen3ForCausalLM, so confirm your stack loads it that way; the method is in arXiv:2506.05176. The card pegs the 8B sibling at No.1 on the MTEB multilingual leaderboard, 70.58 as of June 5, 2025 — a different memory line if you need that ceiling. No Index host prices it per token, so the comparison is your own accelerator time.

## SAVRN's Notes on w2v-bert-2.0

580M parameters producing speech representations rather than transcripts: the page classifies it as feature extraction, the front end you fine-tune or probe for downstream speech tasks. Published weights are 4.7 GB of float32 in pt and safetensors — 1.4 GB at 16-bit, 0.7 GB at 8-bit, 0.3 GB at 4-bit — with a cheapest listed setup of one MI300X at $1.85 an hour. Downloads run 1.8M a month.

MIT permits commercial use with notices kept. It is the multilingual w2v-BERT generation described by arXiv:2312.05187, its disclosed language list opening at Afrikaans, Amharic, Arabic, Assamese and Azerbaijani. The real question is whether you still want a feature extractor: end-to-end recognizers like Qwen3-ASR-1.7B on this list cover most transcription needs, leaving w2v-bert-2.0 for custom head training and speech research. Validate on your own data either way.
