# Open-Weight Models

An open-weight model is an AI model whose trained weights are published for anyone to download. The weights are what the model learned in training. With a copy of them you can run the model on hardware you control and train it further on your own data.

Open weights are not the same as open source. Many publishers release the weights without the training data or code, and the license sets what you may do with the model. This library puts each model's full card, architecture, files, license and published evaluations on one page.

Join our WeChat or Discord community. Check out the GLM-5.3-Flash blog and GLM-5 Technical report. Use GLM-5.3-Flash API services on Z.ai API Platform. We introduce GLM-5.3-Flash, the first natively multimodal model in the GLM-5 series. With 320B total parameters and just 18B active parameters, it outperforms GLM-5.2 across benchmarks and real-world workloads at one-tenth the price, while approaching Claude Opus 4.8 on coding and agentic benchmarks. GLM-5.3-Flash starts from a newly trained base model, with its architecture and training recipe redesigned around capability and efficiency. For the first time in the GLM series, we introduce a hybrid architecture combining sparse and linear…

[Michael Fielding](https://savrn.com/model-publishers/mfielding92)

GLM-5.3 uses the same base model as GLM-5.2 — every gain comes from post-training. Compared with GLM-5.2, it is much better at complex coding and long-horizon tasks: GLM-5.3 supports deployment with the following frameworks. Feel free to try them out: - SGLang — see cookbook - vLLM — see recipes - TokenSpeed — see here - Transformers — see transformers docs - KTransformers — see tutorial - Unsloth — see guide - For deployment on the Ascend NPU platform, inference frameworks such as vLLM-Ascend, xLLM and SGLang are supported — see here. - GLM-5.3 supports controlling the thinking budget through the reasoningeffort parameter, which accepts three levels: low, high, and max. It defaults to max…

Each.json manifest lists the ONNX graph, its external data chunks (split to fit browser buffer limits) and the decoder state names. The decoders use fp32 activations and MatMulNBits weights, and the lmhead is pruned to the last token. Token embeddings are tied to lmhead, so they are not stored separately; the web app dequantises embedding rows from the lmhead weights (described under embed in decoder.json). NYS is not a transformer. It is a coupled-oscillator organism: phases \(\thetai\), amplitudes, natural frequencies \(\omegai\), and a sparse coupling graph \(K\). Language, compiler bits, and speech-frame IDs live on one graph (\(N = 5{,}000{,}000\) nodes, \(k = 512\) edges per node). The native graph trains by Equilibrium Propagation (free RK4, then same-moment free/nudged branches, then a contrastive \(K\) update), without backprop or a cross-entropy objective. A separate sparse context head now provides retrieved language inputs. The GPU Qwen teacher uses PyTorch/Transformers; that does not make the native graph a transformer. ## Open-Weight Models Explained

### What is an open-weight model?

An AI model whose trained weights are published for anyone to download, so it can be run, tested and fine-tuned on hardware the user controls.

### Is an open-weight model the same as open source?

Not always. Open weights means the trained model can be downloaded. Open source usually also means the training code and data are available and the license allows broad reuse. Many open-weight models release the weights only.

### Can I use an open-weight model commercially?

It depends on the license. Apache 2.0 and MIT allow commercial use. Other licenses limit it, for example to non-commercial use or below a set number of users. Every model page here shows its license.

### How much memory does an open-weight model need?

About two bytes per parameter at 16-bit precision, so a 7-billion-parameter model needs roughly 14 GB for its weights, plus memory for the context it processes. Each model page lists its parameter count and the size of its files.
