Make authorization a specific, recorded decision

An approval should identify what is authorized, under which limits and by whom. SAVRN Cloud’s planned approval layer is intended to connect that decision to the work it permits. The public preview includes a local queue for scoped Work Orders. Authenticated approval authority and enforceable execution gates are Coming soon.

Review the exact request

Open a pending preview Work Order and inspect the source collection, expected deliverable and sample credit limit before choosing Approve scope and budget. A reviewer should be able to understand the proposed activity without relying on an ambiguous title. The resulting ready state represents permission to proceed within that recorded scope, rather than a guarantee of quality.

Keep authority separate from the interface

The preview demonstrates decision flow but has no authenticated multi-user boundary. In a connected release, the ability to approve must follow a verified identity and an explicit role. Project membership alone may not establish authority to authorize data use, alter a budget or release a candidate. Those permissions need an appropriate institutional policy and enforceable controls.

Preserve the decision as the request changes

An approval needs to refer to a stable version of the scope and limits. If material details change, the earlier decision should not silently authorize the expanded task. The planned record would preserve the decision time, actor, rationale and referenced request. Execution should be able to check that authorization remains valid when work actually begins.

Separate authorization from later judgments

Approval allows a task to proceed; execution records what happened; deliverable review determines whether the result is acceptable. Candidate release approval is another decision with different evidence. Keeping these steps explicit helps an institution assign responsibility and investigate exceptions. It also prevents a green approval state from being mistaken for a completed research outcome.

Before connected service access

Connected approvals require authenticated authority, immutable scope references and enforcement at the point of execution.

What this makes possible

The intended outcome is an auditable authorization record tied to a defined scope, a responsible decision-maker and the work that followed.
