ACT_sim_handle_basket_ft

by Tatsunari Sakai lvtpsjlfj94/ACT_sim_handle_basket_ft

ACT_sim_handle_basket_ft is an open-weight model for robotics from Tatsunari Sakai, released under Apache License 2.0. It has 52M parameters. At 16-bit it needs about 0.1 GB of GPU memory, which fits on 1x MI300X from $1.85 an hour, at the lowest prices in the SAVRN Index.

LeRobot 0.3.3 ACT policy for the RoboSynChallenge simulation task handlebasket (CobotMagic dual-arm robot, three 480x640 RGB cameras, 14-D joint state/action).

What it takes to serve ACT_sim_handle_basket_ft (52M parameters): the memory its weights need at each precision, and the cheapest way to rent enough data-center GPUs to hold them.

ACT – RoboSynChallenge handle_basket (fine-tuned)

LeRobot 0.3.3 ACT policy for the RoboSynChallenge simulation task handle_basket (CobotMagic dual-arm robot, three 480x640 RGB cameras, 14-D joint state/action).

  • Initialised from RoboSynChallenge/ACT_sim_mixer_operating weights (normalisation statistics recomputed from the task dataset).
  • Fine-tuned for 14,000 steps on RoboSynChallenge/cobotmagic_Sim_handle_basket (1000 episodes), batch size 16, lr 1e-5, AMP; default ACT architecture (ResNet-18, dim 512, 4 enc / 1 dec layers, VAE, chunk size 50).
  • Local check (random setting, seeds 0 and 1, 10 episodes each): 11/20 successes, vs. 5/20 for the released RoboSynChallenge/ACT_sim_handle_basket under the same protocol.

Evaluate with the RoboSynChallenge ACT adapter (LeRobot 0.3.3 required):

bash policy/act/eval.sh handle_basket random <path-to-this-checkpoint> 0 --headless True

Questions About ACT_sim_handle_basket_ft

How much GPU memory does ACT_sim_handle_basket_ft need?

About 0.1 GB at 16-bit and 0 GB at 4-bit: the weights (52M parameters) plus a working margin. A long context needs more.

What is the cheapest GPU to run ACT_sim_handle_basket_ft on?

At 16-bit, 1x MI300X from $1.85 an hour; at 4-bit, 1x MI300X from $1.85 an hour, at the lowest on-demand prices the SAVRN Index lists.

Can I use ACT_sim_handle_basket_ft commercially?

Yes. ACT_sim_handle_basket_ft is released under Apache License 2.0. The Apache License 2.0 is a permissive open-source license. It permits commercial use, modification and redistribution. It requires keeping the license and copyright notices and any NOTICE file, stating significant changes, and it includes an express patent grant from contributors.
