U.S. Power Supply Chain & Demand
The U.S. power system from equipment order to household bill, state by state. The map ties the generation pipeline, grid operators, data center demand, the state jobs report, electricity prices and local policy into one record, built from EIA, BLS, BEA, Census and the SAVRN trackers. Every state and DC has its own page.
What the build-out changed in the U.S. economy
The data center build-out is no longer a forecast. It is in the national accounts. BEA traced part of the upward revision to second-quarter growth to nonresidential structures, mainly data centers, and construction employment passed its 2006 record. The gains reach past the server halls: construction employment is above its 2019 level in 42 of the 48 states where BLS publishes it, and electrical contractor employment grew in 46 of 48, led by Idaho (+66.6%), Arizona (+52.3%), Maine (+44.1%). The cost side is just as measurable. Residential prices rose in 48 of 51 jurisdictions this year, gas turbines take about five years from order to delivery, and factory employment overall is still below 2019 (above it in only 16 of 51). Each state page below shows where its economy sits on that ledger.
State by state
Every state and DC. Each tile opens a page with the state's generation pipeline, grid operator, data center demand, jobs report, prices and policy record.

How this map is built
Each state record joins BEA state GDP, BLS LAUS, CES, QCEW and OEWS, EIA Electric Power Monthly and EIA-860M, PwC's 2026 data center study, NCSL incentive status, and the SAVRN Data Center Map, Moratorium Tracker, Delay Watchlist, Grid Operator Watchlist and Capital Atlas. Federal statistics are grade A. PwC (industry-commissioned, modeled) and SAVRN-compiled fields are grade B. Derived values are labeled. Null means the agency does not publish the figure. The record of truth is the typed state dataset, and the pages are generated from it on every weekly refresh. County pages add Census population, BLS county jobs, pay and unemployment, the EIA operating fleet with plants added and retired since 2019, and the utilities serving each county from EIA-861.
U.S. power, answered from the record
How much new generation is planned in the United States?
The August 2026 EIA-860M inventory lists 288.5 GW of planned generators across the 50 states and DC, 98.7 GW of it under construction or built and awaiting operation. Each state page lists its pipeline by technology and its largest planned units.
Why is new power slow to arrive?
Heavy-duty gas turbines now take about five years from order to delivery, large power transformers more than two years, and the median interconnection request takes more than five years to reach commercial operation. The lead-time table on this page carries each figure with its source.
Which states have the most data center load waiting in grid queues?
Ranked by data center load in tracked queues: Virginia (70,532 MW), Georgia (60,773 MW), Arizona (20,100 MW), New York (17,026 MW), Ohio (13,023 MW). Queue figures come from the SAVRN Grid Operator Watchlist.
Where are electricity prices rising fastest?
Residential prices rose year to date through July 2026 in 48 of 51 jurisdictions. The largest increases: District of Columbia (+17.8%), New Hampshire (+15.2%), Maryland (+13.6%), Virginia (+13.1%), New York (+13.0%) (EIA Electric Power Monthly).
Is the build-out creating jobs?
U.S. construction employment reached an all-time high of 8.364 million in September 2026, and electrical equipment manufacturing employment reached 446,300, its highest since February 2004 (BLS). Total manufacturing employment remains 1.1% below August 2019. Each state page carries its own payroll, industry and pay data.
