Open-Weight Models

An open-weight model is an AI model whose trained weights are published for anyone to download. The weights are what the model learned in training. With a copy of them you can run the model on hardware you control and train it further on your own data.

Open weights are not the same as open source. Many publishers release the weights without the training data or code, and the license sets what you may do with the model. This library puts each model's full card, architecture, files, license and published evaluations on one page.

A Vision Transformer encoder pretrained without labels on steel-surface images with a masked autoencoder adapted to texture defects. Frozen features are clustered into defect categories. No class labels, bounding boxes or detection objective are used in pretraining, and no contrastive loss. Encoder: 224×224 grayscale input, 16×16 patches (196 tokens), 6 pre-norm Transformer layers, 12 heads, 768-d. The decoder in the MAE checkpoint has 2 layers and a 36-d output head: Decoder(depth=2) with dec.pred = torch.nn.Linear(256, 36). NEU-DET (hot-rolled steel strip, 6 defect classes, 1,800 images). Pretraining used only the 1,440-image training split. The 360-image validation split was held out…

This is the model card of a transformers model that has been pushed on the Hub. Users (both direct and downstream) should be made aware of the risks, biases and limitations of the model. Use the code below to get started with the model. Carbon emissions can be estimated using the Machine Learning Impact calculator presented in Lacoste et al. (2019).

Action Chunking with Transformers (ACT) is an imitation-learning method that predicts short action chunks instead of single steps. It learns from teleoperated data and often achieves high success rates. This policy has been trained and pushed to the Hub using LeRobot. Learn how to train and run it in the LeRobot act guide, or browse the full documentation. The policy consumes these observation features and produces these action features. Inputs Outputs New to LeRobot? These guides cover the full workflow: - Install LeRobot — set up the lerobot package. - Hardware setup — assemble, wire, and calibrate your robot and cameras. - Record data & train a policy — the end-to-end imitation-learning…

A convolutional autoencoder trained to remove Gaussian noise from 256×256 RGB images. The model learns the manifold of clean images and projects noisy inputs back onto this learned space. This model removes Gaussian noise from corrupted images by learning to map noisy images back to their clean versions. During training, the autoencoder learns the distribution of clean images, enabling it to filter out noise while preserving image content. - σ=75 (on 0-255 scale) Gaussian noise - Approximately 0.294 on [0,1] normalized scale This model is designed for educational purposes to demonstrate how autoencoders can learn to denoise images by understanding the structure of clean data. - Exploring…

dev-0.4b

Nikhil Pujari

Dev is an open-source 399M parameter bidirectional decision model built on ModernBERT-large. It is purpose-built for unstructured-to-structured classification—including ticket routing, yes/no verification, and rating scales—executing in a single forward pass (~28ms on MPS) without token generation. Following Jev (TypeSafe) and Kev-0.5B (Jared Palmer), Dev tests a fundamental architectural question: What if decision models shouldn't be causal decoders at all, but native bidirectional cross-encoders? Evaluated against Jared Palmer's kev-0.5b (built on a frozen Qwen-2.5-0.5B causal backbone + 9.3M LoRA pointer head): Inference Latency: Dev-0.4B executes in 27.6ms on Apple Silicon MPS (M1 Max)…

Models that fit on one accelerator

Models whose publisher-reported parameter count puts them within reach of a single accelerator at common precisions. Memory needed depends on precision and serving configuration, so treat the parameter count as the starting point, not the answer.

Open-Weight Models Explained

What is an open-weight model?

An AI model whose trained weights are published for anyone to download, so it can be run, tested and fine-tuned on hardware the user controls.

Is an open-weight model the same as open source?

Not always. Open weights means the trained model can be downloaded. Open source usually also means the training code and data are available and the license allows broad reuse. Many open-weight models release the weights only.

Can I use an open-weight model commercially?

It depends on the license. Apache 2.0 and MIT allow commercial use. Other licenses limit it, for example to non-commercial use or below a set number of users. Every model page here shows its license.

How much memory does an open-weight model need?

About two bytes per parameter at 16-bit precision, so a 7-billion-parameter model needs roughly 14 GB for its weights, plus memory for the context it processes. Each model page lists its parameter count and the size of its files.
