What the build-out changed in Missouri

Missouri is at the center of the build-out: the demand is here and the construction economy has moved with it. The data center industry now accounts for 2.9% of Missouri's economy, the 8th largest share of any state (the median state is 1.8%), counting the industry's in-state suppliers and payrolls. Construction employment is +25.8% against August 2019, 10th of 48 states where BLS publishes it. Commercial electricity sales, the class that includes data centers, are +3.0% year to date, 17th in the country.
